When you join our virtual program you agree to a partnership.  We (parents/guardians, students, and SCSD1 staff) will work together to ensure your child succeeds.  You agree to communicate, respond to emails/phone calls, keep us informed if your child is sick, attend in-person meetings, and create a balanced environment at home that teaches your child daily school responsibilities. SCSD1 Virtual FAQS

Will eLearning offer the same classes as in-person?

• Core classes will be available.  Dual credits ARE NOT available.  Certain pathways are not available online. These may differ from the traditional classroom model depending on the grade level.  

Once I choose an option, can I change my mind?

• A consistent learning atmosphere is best for student success.  We would like to see a student finish a semester before switching to a different learning option.  However, we understand that transitions will be required at times.  We will work with you on a case-by-case basis to create a plan for your child.

Can a student be denied the virtual option?  

• Yes.  We review credits earned, grades, attendance, and behavior to be considered. We always welcome an in-person meeting to discuss each student and situation.

What are the requirements of the virtual option?              

Online learning requires a level of responsibility from you that can help you be successful, which includes:

• Daily attendance will be required  by completing daily coursework

• Daily percentage completed per course (2-3%)

• Required In-Person State Testing Days

• Some In-Person required meetings

• eLearning Coach will have online office hours 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

• Guardian email to receive weekly progress reports

• Guardian coach readily available for communication via email/phone

• Guardian will make sure the student is meeting all requirements

• Being prepared and ready to learn before you start your online coursework

• Staying on track by completing the assigned work every day

What if I DO NOT finish a course? 

• Course completion is REQUIRED per semester/9 weeks at 100%

• You will receive an “F” if a course is not completed per semester/9 weeks

• HS students will not earn the credit - the student will have to continue to complete the course to earn the credit

What if a student is not completing their work virtually? 

• If work is not being completed online a student will be required to return to the in-person instruction
